Bien que conçue au départ comme la mascotte d’un magasin de tabac, « Scotty » devint par la suite la figure de proue de la barque nommée Highlander qui était en service sur les Grands Lacs vers 1850. « Scotty » fut récupéré en 1874 après le naufrage du Highlander.


Although crafted as a tobacconist’s mascot, “Scotty” ended up as a figure head on a barque called Highlander which was put into service on the Great Lakes c. 1850. “Scotty” was salvaged in 1874 when Highlander was sunk.
