A prominent local figure, Albert Kimball was Knowlton’s first postmaster and owned Kimball’s Hotel. The title of postmaster was bestowed upon Mr. Kimball in 1851, the same year that Kimball acquired the Blinn Inn, built in 1849, and re-named it Kimball’s Hotel. Kimball’s Hotel still stands today as the Auberge Knowlton, or “the Relais”, found in the heart of Knowlton.
